Who we are
We are a non-profit organization serving as a custodian of proprietary power industry data used to train and disseminate AI models for the benefit of the general public. We earn the trust of public and private organizations to share their anonymized data for the purpose of training a power industry foundational large language model (LLM) and make it available via open-source license to all innovators.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emergent technology with the potential to transform humanity with a scale of impact on the order of electricity and the internet. As a discipline, AI is composed of a diverse set of specializations that contribute to creating systems that can simulate aspects of intelligent behavior. With the advances of LLMs capturing the public imagination in recent years some believe that we are on the cusp of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), AI systems that could match or exceed human-level intelligence across virtually all domains, while others believe this is still in the realm of science fiction. We stay clear of this concept and debate, believing that current capabilities available to virtually everyone already represent an enormous potential to upend industries and major aspects of life.
The “AMI” in Power AMI pays homage to the great Yann LeCunn, who’ve popularized the concept of Advanced Machine Intelligence. Delightfully, ami also means “friend” in French.
